Alternate History

Alternate History/Post Apocalyptic Earth. 936 CE; 89 years since ‘The Cataclysm’The Cataclysm — In 847 CE, a massive asteroid hit Earth, causing widespread death and destruction. Survivors faced scarcity, disease, violence, and harsh living conditions.

Supernatural

Modern Earth is set in 2020’s, and concepts such as magic, the paranormal/supernatural, and other urban fantasy/sci-fi concepts are not unusual.Society is largely made up of humans, but it is commonly accepted that creatures/monsters/aliens exist and are sometimes integrated into society. Rural communities still reject non-humans, often due to superstitions and folklore surrounding them. However, this potential shunning no longer includes death as it once did.

Low Fantasy

The Requiem; a dreamlike realm space taking the form of a sprawling cityscape. What year is it? Yes. Architecture in the heart of the Requiem is anything from 1910’s Art Noveau to Futuristic cyberpunk. Meanwhile, the surrounding Skulking Forest retains a few buildings and settlements akin to Medieval times. Citizens in the Requiem often find themselves there by chance. Some seek it out. Some believe it is Heaven, Hell, and even Purgatory. In truth, it is the Requiem.

The Requiem — Defining and understanding the Requiem is beyond what any human could ever understand as we deal in absolutes. It has to be somewhere, sometime, someplace. Yet, the Requiem does not conform to our understanding of reality.There are rules to the Requiem, but none that can easily be listed. As the Requiem isn’t always experienced universally one way. When it isn’t nighttime, the sky is almost always dreary and clouded. It rains often.It is primarily composed of humans, though they tend to become corrupted by their duration the longer they stay, effectively seeping into the Requiem itself. Vampires, werewolves, infernals, celestials, and other supernatural entities are not uncommon.State of Repose Luxury Hotel — The most luxurious hotel and casino that the Requiem has to offer. Renowned for its food, events, and mass soul-reaping festival. Earned a 6th Michelin star. Owned by an individual known only as Latham.Sponsors — Supernatural beings who are financial contributors to the State of Repose Luxury Hotel

Demi-Human

Modern 2020’s. Demihumans, such as catgirls, dogboys, etc., are an offshoot of humans known as h. s. animalis. They possess animalistic qualities such as ears, tails, fins, claws, wings, gills, etc.Demihumans have rights and protections, but human-demihuman relationships are somewhat taboo, and prejudice may still exist.

Within a romance novel entitled “The Miscreant Margrave” taking place in the fictional European country of Austreburg, which borders the North Sea. The country has Dutch, German, and French influences, set around the 18/19th century. (TBD)
